Very nice! Especially for something you would consider your first serious work. I really love the buildup right around 1:00 and continuing to the 2:40 mark. The drop is fucking wonderful, the bass feels very distorted and alive, and the higher pitched synths that hold the main melody of the song contrast it very nicely. The whole song is a very nice balance between tense buildups and relieving breakdowns. All in all a fucking wonderful remix of an amazing song. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much! This kind of thought out specific comment makes me extremely happy and proud! Thanks for listening!

Intro is much more exciting! The jumpy bass keeps me intrigued and the chords that come in around 0:15 seal the deal. The drum beat that plays throughout feels a lot more solid. It's a simple rhythm that's very fun to dance to, and it's given additional flavor by the claps and other percussion that complement it throughout the song. I also love what you've done with the melodies, adding echo, reverb, "swing" and all that really helps give more life to all aspects of the song.

The melody that comes in around 2:10 is still incredibly catchy and captivating, and I like that you've added additional percussion and melodies during this part to help support that sexy ass riff. Adding all the support during the introduction of the new and complimenting melodies that occur throughout the buildup of the song helps make the actual breakdown that occurs at about 3:35 sound much more significant. It truly feels like we're coming to a climax rather than just another break in the song.

I will say, however, the breakdown feels a bit long, and the totally isolated melodies that play from around 4:45-5:10, while musically very appropriate and lovely, do take away from the danceability of the song. It feels like those would just be a solid 30 seconds where nobody would be moving on the dance floor.

The elongated breakdown and the isolated melodies are totally fine and are in fact quite pleasant when regarding this composition as a standalone piece of music intended for just listening. However, I feel like in a club/party/show that portion of the song would take away from the overall climax that's being experienced. Maybe throw in some background synths that slowly, chromatically slide from low to high pitches and vice versa. Maybe a slow simple drumbeat or something else that helps support the melodies, so that the isolated melodies will add to the overall feel of the song rather than feeling totally separated from the rest of the piece.

But of course, it's your song and you can take it in any direction you want. This sounds much improved from the version you posted earlier. The earlier version sounded like a blueprint and this sounds more like the plan being put into action. Keep it up, I look forward to seeing where you end up taking the piece!

JMSy responds:

thanks man, emailed you

This is my favorite kind of music. This sounds like the kind of stuff that comes out of the underground electronic music scene in LA. The LoZ samples and the fact that it's inspired by the Kokiri Forest only make it that much better.

Sit back, relax, consume your preferred vice and let the groove take you away to a land of magical forests and fairies...

Thanks for sharing this, man. I might drop a little freestyle or write some poetry over this.

cavequest responds:

If your feeling it please do man! Id love to hear what you have to add

Thanks for your appreciation, mucho love!

It feels like I'm in a dark cave and there's some gargantuan kraken/cthulhu monster that's trying to find and kill me.

Then when the bass kicks in I realize that the only way to defeat the monster is to challenge him to a dance-off, and then it gets awesome. Fucking excellent, dark drum n bass song.

This would definitely be a badass song to play after beating an important boss and having some npc tell you that you saved the world or something.

Something about the bass though just feels a bit out of place. Not the bassline itself, but the synth used for the bass. It seems a bit out of place for a videogame loop and makes this sound more like a track you'd bump at the club haha.

Still though, very solid piece of music here. Triumphant and very pretty.

dude-im-alive responds:

Thanks dude, glad you liked it! haha yeah tbh I should've worked on that a wee bit more, bit too much 'Grrrr' for a sparkly fanfare loop like this. That was something I was going to change, but thought, screw it I'll leave it, so I'm glad you actually picked me up on that ;)

Really glad you thought it would go well with a game, as that was the main aim, so yeah, safe for the review and feedback, I'm actually starting up a loops account on soundcloud right now specifically for this stuff, so I might tweak that now before I upload it, get it fitting in a bit more, I'll link you it when I'm done to see what you think. Anyway don't wanna overload ya with writing but yeah, thanks dude, much appreciated! :)

Pretty solid for a wip. The melodies and harmonic content of the song are nice, and the rhythm is good, but it does somewhat feel like a skeleton of a full song. The breakdowns throughout the piece leave something to be desired, like I'm expecting a fuller body of sounds to just smack me right in the face and make me wanna get up and dance. Maybe throw in some deeper bass and use a more in-your-face synth for the backing chords.

Also I fucking love the part that starts around 3:30. That little breakdown is magnifique.

It's sounding pretty nice so far, I'm excited to see where you decide to take the song as you continue to work on it.

JMSy responds:

thanks man ill take note of your feedback as i work on completing the track beleive me the body of the song still to be made so be excited the full version will be far more complete cheers

Dope as a motherfucker, Ima have to freestyle over this haha

Libby-Shimmz responds:

Be sure to put it up here so I can add it to the album this is going on! :D

This is some straight easy listening, and it's definitely getting freestyled over. Would you mind if I drop some poetry over this in the future and upload it? (I'll give you credit for creating the beat of course)

HowardWimshurst responds:

dude, that would be awesome!

If there's one thing I love, it's a song that slowly builds upon itself to a sweet, all-enveloping climax that makes all of your worries disappear and replaces them with the goodness of sound and vibration.

I love this music. Stupendous job, my friend. I might have to download this and freestyle some kind of poetry over it.

adieuwinter responds:

Thanks for the kind words. Do as you will, if you freestyle make sure to send a link my way (I would love to hear something like that)

Oooh good lawd that's tasty. This is the straight definition of headphone tripping. It's ambient and atmospheric while still being grounded by the wub wubby bassline and background melodies. And is that some badass electric guitar shredding I hear in the background? I believe so. Gettin to the breakdown in the middle, mmhmm, yes, delicious, pleasant...and that drop just smacked me right in the face and those soft piano notes are kissing the boo boos all better.

Holy shit man this is some nice music! Thank you for sharing.

LemonCrush responds:

Wow, thanks so much man! Your review is making me all misty eyed! lol. I can't thank you enough for the praise man. Super glad you enjoyed it and happy I brought ya some joy! :)

I record/mix/master audio, mix live sound, and make music. Hmu if you wanna collab or something.
